St Brigid or Saint Bridget is the female patron saint of Ireland.
She is believed to have been in Ireland at the same time as St Patrick. She was an independent woman who founded her own abbey and converted many people to Christianity.
She baptised her own father on his sick bed. She didn't have a cross with which to perform the ceremony and wove one from the fushes on the floor.
The tradition of weaving crosses continues to this day. On St Brigids feastday 1st February the children weave the crosses which are then put over the doorway to keep out trouble and bad luck.
This cross is made from Sterling Silver comes with an 18 inch silver chain, it is in a presentation box ready to give as a gift.
Size 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch (2cm x 2cm).
